Guy Périllat

Guy Périllat ( born February 24, 1940 in La Clusaz, France ) is a French former alpine skier. He is a two time world champion and two -time Olympic gold medalist.

Périllat celebrated the greatest success during the 1960s. During the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley Périllat was world champion in the non-Olympic Alpine combination. On the descent, he won an Olympic bronze medal.

At these performances he could two years later, at the Alpine World Skiing Championships tie when he was runner-up in the slalom behind his compatriot Charles Bozon. In the Alpine World Ski Championships 1966 in Portillo Périllat won his second world title in the giant slalom and the slalom was second.

At the beginning of 1967 Périllat won two slaloms in the newly introduced World Cup - the first in Megève and the second in the 3- Tre race in Madonna di Campiglio, where he also won the giant slalom and combined in the World Cup for not scoring competitions. Finally, he won at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble with the silver medal in the downhill his second Olympic medal. At the national level, he won from 1962 to 1967 eight French titles. Périllat ended his playing career after the 1968/69 season.

In 1961 he was elected by the sports newspaper L' Équipe France's Sportsman of the Year ( " champion of champions" ).
