The Hampshire Township is one of 18 townships in Clinton County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Iowa.

Geography

The Hampshire Township is located in the northern and north- western suburbs of Clinton in eastern Iowa on the west bank of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Illinois. The border with Wisconsin is located about 80 km north.

The Hampshire Township is located at 41 ° 54'15 " north latitude and 90 ° 15'06 " west longitude and extending over 102.18 km ², spread over 95.31 km ² land and 6.87 km ² water surface.

The Hampshire Township lies to the east of Clinton County. On the opposite east bank of the Mississippi are the Carroll and Whiteside County in Illinois. Inside the Clinton County the Hampshire Township is bordered to the south and southeast of belonging to the city of Clinton Township none, to the west by the Center Township, on the northwest by the Deep Creek Township and in the north to the Elk River Township.

Traffic

Through the Hampshire Township runs along the Mississippi at this point the Iowa section of the Great River Road forming U.S. Highway 67 further south passes through the Iowa Highway 136, the township in south - nordwestler direction and forms zuzgleich the northwestern arterial road of the city of Clinton. All other roads are County Roads and further subordinate and partly unpaved roadways.

Population

In the census of 2010, the Township had 806 inhabitants. The inhabitants live mainly in the suburban area of Clinton and scattered over the remaining territory of the Township. In addition there exists a ( unincorporated ) settlement in the Hampshire Township Six Mile.
