Career

Fritz was one of the world's best goalkeepers in handball, though he was a relatively small goalkeeper 1.88 m. His league career began in Magdeburg, and at SC Magdeburg he celebrated his first big success. As of the 2001 /02 season he played for the THW Kiel and was during this time German champion four times (2002, 2005, 2006, 2007), twice the EHF Cup Winners ( 2002, 2004 ) and once Supercup champion ( 2005). From July 2007, he played for the Rhein- Neckar Löwen.

2002 Fritz was with the German national team vice European champion in Sweden and 2003 Vice World Champion in Portugal. In 2004 he was European champion in Slovenia. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was the great support of the German team, and a guarantee that his team came to the finals and had to settle only there as already beaten at the World Cup in Portugal Croatia. In 2005, he could not compete at the World Championships because of an elbow injury.

At the 2007 World Championships was Fritz due to lack of match practice as " shaky ". After good performances but he was elected several times during the tournament for "Man of the match" and had a decisive share in the finals of the German team that won the German team against Poland.

In the final Henning Fritz almost became a tragic character of the game, after he - according to a hitherto impeccable performance - the injured Score by 21:14 and had to be replaced against Johannes Bitter. Subsequently, the Polish team came within a goal ( 22:21 ), though more because of a weakness in the German attack as because of the benefits Bitters. The German team won the game at the end but with 29:24. Subsequently, he was still chosen as the best goalkeeper in the All-Star Team of the World Cup. Winning the Men's Handball World Championship 2007 in our own country is so Fritz's greatest success. He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for this triumph.

In the Rhine -Neckar Löwen he ended his career after the 2011/12 season. He then became goalkeeping coach at second division SG Leutershausen and at junior level of the DHBs.
