Bertrand Gille (born 24 March 1978 in Valence ) is a French handball player. He is considered one of the best county runners in the world and was voted World Handball Player of the Year in 2002. He is an officer of the French National Order of Merit.

Career

Association

His career began in the 1.87 m wide and 87 kg Bertrand Gille in the French town of Valence in the HBC Loriol. The change to Chambery Savoie HB in 1996 meant for Gille also the change of position to the circle runner. With Chambery Savoie HB 2001 he celebrated the French championship and the 2002 League Cup victory.

On July 1 In 2002, Bertrand Gille ( shirt number 14) together with his brother Guillaume Gille for HSV Hamburg in the Handball Bundesliga. The brothers won with the HSV Hamburg 2006 the DHB Cup at the Final Four in the domestic Color Line Arena in Hamburg, and the following year the Cup Winners' Cup. In the season 2010/11 he became German champion. In summer 2012 he returned to France, together with Guillaume to Chambery Savoie HB, where the youngest brother Benjamin also plays.

National

Bertrand Gille was an integral part of the successful French national team during the 2000s.

With the choice he became World Champion 2001 in their own country. At the European Championships in Switzerland in 2006 he was in the final reigning world champion Spain beat sovereign. Among his greatest achievements include two Olympic victories in 2008 and 2012. 2010 he was the European champion and the 2011 world title win again.

He played 268 matches in which he scored 806 goals.
