Hondarribia

Hondarribia (Spanish: Fuenterrabía, French: Fontarabie ) is a city in the northeast of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in Spain. Which belongs to the province of Gipuzkoa port city located north-west of Irun at the mouth of the river Bidasoa, which forms the border with France here. On the other side of the estuary is the French town of Hendaye.

History

According to legend founded the Visigothic Reccared I. the city around 550 AD The first mention was made in 1150 in a charter of King Sancho of Navarre.
