Hurts

Hurts are a British synthpop band from Manchester. It consists of Theo Hutchcraft ( born August 30, 1986 in Richmond, North Yorkshire ) and Adam Anderson ( born May 14, 1984 in Manchester ), both members of the band Daggers and Bureau were before.

Career

In July 2009 was Hurts Band of the Day on the website of the British newspaper The Guardian. They also reached the fourth place at the prestigious BBC Sound of 2010 poll.

2010-2011: Happiness

In early 2010 they released their first single, and played their first concerts. Your world's first live appearance had Hurts when StyleNite on 22 January 2010 in Berlin Friedrichstadt Palace.

Their debut album Happiness was released on August 27, 2010 in Germany. Thereupon Hutchcraft and Anderson are strongly focused on the sound of the 1980s and to their musical heroes Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears or Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The 1980s and the dominant sound of this decade ( synthesizers, drum machines, machine beats, etc. ) are the most important reference point for the music of Hurts.

In German-speaking band with the titles Wonderful Life and Stay celebrated great successes. Especially the former piece could last long in the charts, including 13 weeks in the German Top 10, of which it spent three weeks at No. 2. Stay was used in the German film Kokowääh at which starred, among others Til Schweiger.

Since 2012: Exile

In early 2012 they began to work on her new album. For the first time aware of the new board took the title of The Road, which was used in a two-minute promotional video for the album. Since mid-December 2012, it is available on iTunes. Another title, Sandman was placed for some time on the official website to download. About the same time also the album cover and the title were announced.

Miracle was first released as an advance single in some countries 11 January 2013. In Germany was released in February 2013 before the actual publication of the Robots Do not Sleep Remix. On 1 March 2013, the single was released on the German market as a maxi-CD. On March 8, 2013, the album Exile and the song Blind Somebody to appeared, resulting in the following months, the research were released. All three songs reached the German charts. The B- side of 'Somebody To Die For, the song Without You, which is a cover of the same piece of Selig, reached the charts.

In collaboration with the House - producer Calvin Harris and Alesso the song Under Control was born. It is based less on Hurts ' music style, as much more on the typical progressive house style of the two DJs. Beginning of November 2013 celebrated the music video premiered. While the single in Switzerland has been around since published on October 7, 2013, she appeared in Germany until 15 November 2013.

Trivia

In her recording contract Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson asked for a comb and an umbrella. For this, there was no particular reason, they just wanted to find out if they would get them also. The record company agreed, and they got a comb and an umbrella.

The album Happiness was recorded in January 2010 in a disused Gothenburg radio stations and produced by Jonas Quant. In November 2010, a furnished room to their liking " Hurts Chamber" was called in Berlin Hotel "The wine master." For the Single Shark NDH band Rammstein Hurts has contributed a remix, but also for the band The Heartbreaks for the single Jealous, Do not You Know, for the album Falco 3 ( 25th Anniversary Edition ) by Falco Jeanny the song as well as for Lady Gaga's single Judas. They also have 2011 produced a remix of Mylène Farmer Lonely Lisa. In February 2012, they made a remix of the song Song of the forgotten of the band Rosenstolz. In February 2013 Hurts who covered Bruno Mars ' song Locked Out of Heaven. It was followed by a cover version of the song Without you, the German band Blessed, which was released in August 2013 as the B-side of their single 'Somebody To Die For.
