HWA AG is an automobile manufacturer founded in 1999, the racing activities for Daimler AG operates and develops and manufactures automotive parts. The company was formed from the existing since 1967 Motorsport division of AMG ( Mercedes -AMG since 2005 ).
History
In 1999, AMG was taken over 51% of Daimler Chrysler AG. At the same time the motor sports department of the Mercedes -AMG was spun off and as HWA GmbH newly founded. Hans- Werner Aufrecht, founder of the team, has named it after his own name.
For the Le Mans race in 1999, the CLK of HWA was evolved into the CLR, without having to as LM -GTP based on a road car ( the look was still the CL adjusted). This prototype has a total raised by extreme interpretation of the chassis and aerodynamics ( the face of strong competition from Toyota, BMW, Audi, Nissan, etc. ) three times at high speed, in practice, warm -up and then in the race before running TV cameras. In December 2006, the H.W.A. was GmbH converted into HWA AG. Here, the financial investor Toto Wolff including co-investors have stakes in the company. On 19 April 2007, the IPO was on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, came through the part of the shares in free float.
Nine drivers' title won the HWA team for Mercedes -Benz. Upright operates with his team of HWA AG in the 2007 season four vehicles Mercedes- Benz in the DTM. The most successful driver of the HWA team is Bernd Schneider with seven league titles and three runner-up titles in the DTM, ITC and FIA GT Championship.
The last success in the DTM dated 28 November 2010., Paul di Resta won the championship in Shanghai against his brand mate Gary Paffett and Bruno Spengler. His racing and engineering data were present Axel Randolph and Anna rods. At the same time, the HWA AG secured places 1 and 2 in the team championship.
For several years, HWA AG is also successful as an engine supplier for Formula 3. Beginning from 2003 in the Formula 3 Euro Series, since 2006 also in the British Formula 3 Championship. During the 2007 season also Opel engines supplied to the Formula 3 Euro Series in the 2009 Volkswagen its only competitor.

Board and team manager Hans -Jürgen Mattheis. Technical Director and co-CEO is Gerhard Ungar. Under his leadership, the new AMG -Mercedes C-Class was built, the 16 AMG - Mercedes. Chairman of the Supervisory Board is the former Head of the Mercedes Car Group Jürgen Hubbert. In addition, Hans Werner Aufrecht, Toto Wolff and Willi Doerflinger sit on the supervisory board of the company.
In 2007 the company achieved EBIT of 9.1 and a net profit of € 5.6 million ( 2006) with 224 employees.
In addition to the " automobile racing ", the company develops and manufactures in the business " vehicles / vehicle components " components for Daimler AG and Mercedes- AMG.
