Igors Pavlovs

Igor Valentinovich Pavlov (Russian Игорь Валентинович Павлов; Latvian Igor Pavlov; * January 1, 1965 in Lipetsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey coach who was eligible to play for Latvia and also has a German passport. Since the 2013/14 season, he is coach of the Heilbronner Falken DEL2.

Career

As a player

Pavlov began his career as a hockey player in the Soviet Union, among others for the team Dinamo Riga, before he moved to Germany for the first time to EV Landsberg in the 1992/93 season. Together with Oleg Znaroks he was much to blame for the former Hockey Oberliga Süd on the side of Jockl Ried and Manni basket that Oberbayern masters were.

Pavlov's first coach in Germany was the Czech Florian Strida. Although in his first season with the EV Landsberg Pavlov lost the league championship ( 2:8 / 4:4 against Frankfurt ), you could have the upper hand in the rise of games and succeeded in qualifying against SC Riessersee the jump to the 2nd Bundesliga. Because of his stay in Riga Pavlov received the 1996 Latvian passport and was henceforth to play for Latvia. Later he also received a German passport.

As a coach

His first experience as a coach, he did as an assistant coach at the Revierlöwen Oberhausen, where he worked with head coach Peter Draisaitl. Since the 2004 season, Igor Pavlov worked at the Fish Town penguin. He was elected in the last two seasons, each coach of the year. Pavlov was released in late October 2007 from his post as coach of the Fish Town penguin due to the lack of success, but remained the club initially received with activities in the field scouting and environment of the organization.

In January 2008, Pavlov joined the polar bear Regensburg, where he took over the role of the coach. In the 2008 /09 season, he served as head coach at the Krefeld Penguins. In February 2009, his contract extended initially for one year until 2010, when his employer moved the corresponding option contract.

Igor Pavlov negotiated the end of the 2009/10 season from a termination of the contract with the Krefeld Penguins because he was hoping for an offer from his homeland. Since this did not materialize and the Penguins Igor Pavlov did not want to take another under contract, Pavlov joined the Cologne Sharks. There, he signed a one year contract for the 2009/10 season. On 2 December 2009, Pavlov and his assistant Rupert Master were released from their duties as coach of the Cologne Sharks; the sharks were at this time at the 13th place in the table of the DEL.

Then Pavlov worked as a coach at HK Sibir Novosibirsk tactics before he was employed from October to December 2010 at the HK Spartak Moscow as head coach. After the sacking of Christian Weber Pavlov was hired in February 2011 as head coach at the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers of the National League A.

For the season 2012/13 Pavlov returned to Germany and received a one-year contract with DEL Hannover Scorpions. When he took over the team, the Lower Saxony had completed the worst season since becoming part of DEL and completed as Table. For this reason, the budget was cut and had to Pawlow increasingly incorporate young players in the team. As a result, the Hannover Scorpions achieved in the 2012/13 season in eleventh place in the main round and narrowly missed out on making the play -offs. Therefore, in March 2013 the contract by Igor Pavlov was extended with the Lower Saxony for another year. Due to the insolvency and the associated sale of DEL license to the Schwenningen Wild Wings of the contract with the Hannover Scorpions, however, was dissolved. Since November 2013 Igor Pavlov is coach of the Heilbronner Falken DEL2.
