ISO 3166-2:SD
The list of ISO -3166 -2 codes for Sudan contains the codes for the 17 states (Arabic wilayat ).
The codes are composed of two parts which are separated by a hyphen. The first part is the country code according to ISO 3166-1 ( for Sudan SD), the second is the code for the state again. The current country code is in the Newsletter II-3 dated 13 December 2011 (PDF ) last updated.
In the previous change in the state of Gharb Kordofan with code SD -10 was removed from the list due to a modification of the administrative structure.
As of 2011, ten states were the newly independent South Sudan (ISO 3166-2: SS). With the Newsletter II-3, this change has been adapted and restructured sub-codes.
