Al Qadarif (state)

Al - Qadarif (Arabic القضارف, DMG al - Qadarif; alternative spelling Gedaref, rare Gadaref, Gadarif or Qadarif ) is a state in Sudan.

It has an area of 75,263 km ² and about 1.3 million inhabitants. Its capital is the city of al - Qadarif, another larger places are Gallabat, al - Ḩawātah and Doka.

History

1919-1991 belonged to the territory of today's state of al - Qadarif to Kassala Province, 1991-1994 it belonged to the newly created state of Ash- Sharqiyah, the province Kasssala of 1919-1973 possible. On 14 February 1994 al - Qadarif was spun off as a separate state.
