Ivan Kovalev
Ivan Alexandrovich Kovalev (Russian: Иван Александрович Ковалёв, english Ivan Kovalev, born July 26, 1986 in Alapayevsk, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russian SFSR, USSR ) is a Russian rail and road racing cyclist.
Ivan Kovalev began his career in 2006 at the Russian Continental team Dynamo Moscow Omnibike. At the Track Cycling World Cup in Moscow, he won the 2006 Scratch race before Mitchell Docker and Martin Bláha. In the team pursuit, he finished with Alexander Serov, Nikolai Trussow and Ivan Rowny third place behind Recycling.co.uk and the German national team.
Two days before the start of the UCI Track World Championships 2010 in Melbourne Kovalev was hit Dunc Gray Velodrome from 500 meters away from a car and broke a shoulder, so he could not participate in the World Cup.
In 2011 he was Russian Champion in Omnium and together with Yevgeny Kovalev, Alexei Markov and Alexander Serov in the team pursuit. In the same cast his team won the team persecutions at the sweeps of the Track Cycling World Cup 2011/2012 in Astana and Beijing.
In the UCI Track World Championships 2014 in Cali (Colombia ), he became world champion in Scratch.
The cyclists Yevgeny Kovalev is his younger brother. At times, they start in the team pursuit in the same team.
