Background

Goods " The Bible - Genesis " and " The Bible - Abraham " nor adaptations of John Huston's epic film "The Bible ", so " Jacob " is the first film in the series, which could be measured by any Hollywood film from the 1960s.

Like its predecessor, the film in Ouarzazate ( Morocco) was filmed. Tried to historical authenticity, there are still some deviations from the Scriptures. So is not Jobonaham and its attempt to steal Jacob's bride gifts mentioned. Although in the Bible many names and pedigrees are listed, no Jobonoham is mentioned. However, a part of the screenplay based on the novel Giacobbe the Italian writer Francesco Maria Nappi. Another aspect is the accurate representation of Haran. Haran should already have been in the days of Abraham, a city with thousands of inhabitants. In this time period - almost 50 years later - to present as medium-sized town, is historically incorrect.

Criticism

" In a bible timely implementation the story of a cunning, happy man is told of his firm belief in God connects with worldliness. A clearly structured film with a simple image design, solid directed and acted relevant. The sometimes too generously applied music ( appearances of God ) seems a bit disturbing. "

Crossover

In " The Bible - Joseph ," the upcoming film, other actors are the biblical characters embody, but have little resemblance to the faces of " Jacob."

Anecdotes

The daughter of the director, Peter Hall, Emma Hall, embodied with a boy Joseph. But since she was a toddler at the time, this is not noticeable on. According to unconfirmed reports no boy could be found who took the part.
