Jaegerspris is a city on the peninsula Hornsherred in the north of the Danish Capital Region belonging Zealand. It was built about 1870 by the Jægerspris Castle, which served as the residence of the Danish King Frederik VII. The city, which is located on the western shore of Roskilde Fjord in close proximity to several beaches on the Danish Baltic coast, has 4087 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) and until 2007 was the administrative seat of the municipality Jaegerspris. Since an administrative reform it is part of the municipality Frederikssund, whose administrative headquarters Frederikssund it lies about six miles away.

In Jaegerspris a base ( Jægersprislejren, JPL ) of the Danish Armed Forces is a military training area ( Jaegerspris Skyde -og Øvelsesterræn ). North of the city also lies the nature reserve Jaegerspris Nordskov, one of the most pristine forest areas in Denmark, which houses the oldest tree in the country and probably the oldest oak in Europe with an oak known as Kongeegen.

Partner municipalities of Jaegerspris are the rural community Keila in Estonia, Kowary in Poland, Loppi in Finland, Norway and Lunner Vetlanda in Sweden. Were born in Jaegerspris among other things, the chemist Johan Kjeldahl and orientalist Jørgen Læssøe ( 1924-1993 ).
