Šimůnek (2010)

January Šimůnek [ jan ʃimu nɛk ː ] (born 20 February 1987 in Prague) is a Czech football player. The defender is since 2010 the 1st FC Kaiserslautern under contract.

Club career

Jan Šimůnek began playing football at smaller clubs in Switzerland, where his father Milan Šimůnek, who played until 1991 at Slavia Prague, let end his career. When his father returned to the Czech Republic and Bohemians Prague joined Jan Šimůnek also played for Bohemians. In 1999 the defender to Sparta Prague.

In early 2005 he was taken from the A- youth in the men's team, four games made in the 2004/05 season in the second league for the B team and was on matchday 26 against FK Mladá Boleslav his debut in the Gambrinus League. Sparta was in this year Czech Master. In the following season 2005/ 06 he was usually the squad 's B-team, for which he completed 25 matches.

In order to gain match practice, he was awarded in the 2006/07 season to the upstart SK Kladno, where he was a regular on the opening day and played in all matches up to the game against Sparta Prague. For the season 2007/ 08 he moved for an estimated 4.5 million euros to Germany for VfL Wolfsburg. He signed a contract until 2011. During his first season, the Czech was placed in the center of defense and reached the Lower UEFA Cup 5th place due to a persistent injury but he could a year later in the first round is not in the first team be used and rebuilt it in eight games in the second team again. In the second half, he returned again as a regular player in the Bundesliga team back and won at the end of the season with Wolfsburg's Germany's first championship title in the club's history.

For the 2010/11 season changed Šimůnek 1 FC Kaiserslautern. It should help to establish the team after the rise in the Bundesliga. Due to several injuries, however, he was able to complete no league game for the Palatinate in his first year. His only for long time competitive match for FCK, he played on 26 October 2010 in the DFB Cup against Arminia Bielefeld (3:0 ), but he had to be replaced due to injury in the eighth minute. His first Bundesliga game after his 16- month injury break, he played 21 January 2012 in a 0-0 draw against Werder Bremen. On April 5, 2013 in a 3-0 win over Cologne, he scored his first goal for FCK, that his first Profitor was ever the same.

National

January Šimůnek went through from the U16 youth national teams of the Czech Republic, the U 18 he jumped. In the U -20 World Cup Canada 2007 he was captain of the Czech selection, only lost in the final with Argentina 1:2. Since 2009, the defender comes in the Czech national team for use.
