Jay Caufield

Jay Caufield ( born July 17, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1984 to 1994 among others for the New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League has.

Career

Jay Caufield first played 1980-1985 American football at the University of North Dakota. Afterwards, however, he opted for a career as a hockey player, came in the 1984/85 season but only to a game for the hockey team his University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association for use. On 8 October 1985, the winger signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Rangers, for whom he scored in the 1986/87 season in 16 games in the National Hockey League two goals and an assist. However, the rest of the time in the franchise of the Rangers he spent at the Farm Teams New Haven Nighthawks of the American Hockey League and Toledo Goal Diggers and Flint Spirits of the International Hockey League.

On October 8, 1987 Caufield was released together with Dave Gagner in exchange for Jari Grönstrand and Paul Boutilier to the Minnesota North Stars. However, in the 1987/88 season he was just in a game for Minnesota in the NHL on the ice as he spent the entire rest of the season with their IHL farm team Kalamazoo Wings. From 1988 to 1993, the Americans played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, with whom he each the prestigious Stanley Cup won in seasons 1990/91 and 1991/92. During his time with the Penguins, he also played three times for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the IHL. In the 1993/94 season he played again for his former team Kalamazoo Wings IHL before he ended his career at the age of 34 years.
