Jeff Colyer

Jeffrey " Jeff" Colyer ( born June 3, 1960 in Hays, Ellis County, Kansas) is an American politician. Since 2011 he has been Vice- Governor of the State of Kansas.

Career

Jeff Colyer attended the public schools of his home. Then he studied until 1981 at Georgetown University in Washington DC He then spent a year until 1982 at the University of Cambridge. After a subsequent medical studies at the University of Kansas, 1986, he was admitted as a doctor. In the following years he worked as an intern at various hospitals in the United States. His specialty was or is plastic surgery. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. 1988 while he was working at the Washington Hospital Center, he was long for a year as a White House Fellow busy. Since 1994, he ran in Overland Park his own medical practice in his specialty. He also continued his political career. In 2002 he applied unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Between 2007 and 2009 he sat in the House of Representatives from Kansas and from 2009 to 2011 was in the state Senate. He was a member of several committees.

In 2010, Jeff Colyer was elected to the side of Sam Brownback for Lieutenant Governor of Kansas. He held this position since 10 January 2011. Doing so, he is assistant to the governor.
