William Yoast Morgan

Yoast William Morgan ( born April 6, 1866 in Cincinnati, Ohio, † February 17, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas ) was an American politician. Between 1915 and 1919 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kansas.

Career

In 1871, William Morgan came with his father to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, where he attended the public schools. Then he studied journalism at the University of Kansas. In the following years he worked in the newspaper industry. He acquired the newspaper The Hutchinson News, which he headed until his death. Morgan was also involved in other sheets. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1899 and 1903 he held the office of State Printer. Between 1903 and 1910 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Kansas.

1914 Morgan was elected to the side of Arthur Capper for Lieutenant Governor of Kansas. This post he held between January 1915 and January 13, 1919 11. Yet he was assistant to the governor. In the years 1916 and 1920, he participated as a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant. In 1922, he ran unsuccessfully for the governorship. Business he had now expanded its area of ​​operations to other areas beyond the newspaper industry. He was among others connected with the Hutchinson Printing Company. For a short time he was also president of the State Exchange Bank. He was also a member of several organizations and associations. William Morgan died on 17 February 1932 in Hutchinson.
