Jeff Heerema

Jeff Heerema ( born January 17, 1980 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2010. He is the cousin of NHL player Eric, Marc, Jordan and Jared Staal.

Career

Heerema began a career in 1997 in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL Sarnia Sting at the. Because of its good services of winger during the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in 1998 in the first round of the eleventh of the Carolina Hurricanes. Three years later, the Canadians moved to Carolina, where he initially but mainly in the farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters, was used. In the season 2002/ 03 the right shooter finally came to ten appearances in the National Hockey League, where he was able to achieve three goals.

A year later, Heerema joined the Columbus Blue Jackets, for which he completed 22 games and was able to score three points scorer. In the following years, the attacker had several club stations included the Binghamton Senators, the farm team of the Ottawa Senators. There he was, however, still used only rarely in the NHL, to Heerema decided in 2007 for a move to Europe and signed a contract with the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. In his first season for the striker Hesse scored in 50 games and 41 points scorer was one of the best point players in the team.
