Jennifer Simpson

Jenny Simpson (Jennifer Mae Simpson, née Barringer, born August 23, 1986 in Webster City, Iowa ) is an American middle distance runner and obstacle.

The three-time NCAA champion (2006, 2007, 2009 ) over 3000 m steeplechase won their first national title in 2007 with a time of 9:34,64 min, then the second fastest a U.S. citizen. At the World Athletics Championships in Osaka she was disqualified in the flow.

After she had qualified in Beijing the following year as a third party in the U.S. elimination fights for the 2008 Olympic Games, she put on 22 July in Heusden -Zolder with 9:22,70 min a continental record. This brand she did better than ninth in the Olympic final to 9:22,26 min.

In 2009 she was the second time U.S. champion and finished fifth at the World Championships in Berlin with the times but record time of 9:12,50 min, with which it now occupies the ninth place on the Eternal Weltbestliste ( August 2009).

The following year, she had to quit after a stress fracture in his right thigh bone the season.

In 2011 she became a U.S. indoor champion in the mile run and 3,000 m and U.S. vice- champion in the 1500 m. About the same distance she won the gold medal at the World Championships in Daegu.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 she divorced about 1500 m from the semi-finals. 2013 she won over the same distance at the World Championships in Moscow Silver.

Jenny Simpson is 1,65 m tall and weighs 50 kg. She graduated in 2009 studying political science at the University of Colorado at Boulder from, for their sports team Colorado Buffaloes she started, and was then taken off the sporting goods manufacturer New Balance under contract. Since 2010 she is trained by July Benson. On 18 October 2010 she married the former middle-distance runner Jason Simpson.
