Jesús de Machaca The municipality is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Jesús de Machaca The municipality is one of seven Municipalities of the province Ingavi and is located in the central part of the province. It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Tiahuanacu and to the municipality Guaqui, on the northwest by the municipality of Desaguadero, on the west by the municipality of San Andrés de Machaca, in the south of the province Pacajes, on the east by the municipality of Viacha, and on the northeast by the Province of Los Andes.

The municipality has 102 localities ( Localidades ), the administrative seat of the municipality of Jesús de Machaca is with 396 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. (2001)

Geography

Jesús de Machaca The municipality lies at an average altitude of 4000 m south of Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges, the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east.

The mean annual temperature of the region is located at 8 ° C, the annual precipitation is 500-600 mm (see climate chart El Alto). The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 7 ° C in July and 11 ° C in December. The monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm during the months of June and July and close to 100 mm from December to February.

67.5 percent of the population speak Spanish, 97.2 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 0.2 percent. (2001)

90.2 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 36.6 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

64.5 percent of the total 4,239 households owned a radio, a television 1.3 percent, 37.7 percent, a bicycle, a motorcycle 0.5 percent, 0.7 percent own a car, a refrigerator 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent a telephone. (2001)
