Jockgrim

Jockgrim is a municipality in the district of Germersheim, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It is the administrative seat of the homonymous municipality, which it also belongs. Jockgrim is recognized as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

History

History

Jockgrim, on a spur of the flooding of the Rhine shore, one of the largest villages of the district of Germersheim. The first mentioned in 1223 under the name " Jochen home 'place was in the Middle Ages in the possession of the Prince-Bishop of Speyer, which at times held his seat there. From that time the city wall still partially preserved dates, while the castle bailiff and the other fortifications were razed in 1793 by Jacobin armies.

Due to the rich clay deposits of place experienced by the production of roof tiles in the 19th century a great economic upturn, which is closely linked to the family Ludowici.

Castle Jockgrim

Bishop Nicholas of Speyer in 1390 had built a castle in Jockgrim. After destruction in the Réunionskriegen it was rebuilt under Hugo Damian von Schönborn and finally destroyed in the French Revolution. The castle secured the northern end of the local attachment (on all other pages of the site falls steeply to the Rhine valley from ) and was surrounded by a moat. Preserved are only some foundations that are built over by newer buildings.

Religion

2012 were 49.6 percent of the population Catholic and 21.3 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

The local council in Jockgrim consists of 22 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Gules, a district mark in the form of a Latin A ( plow loop). "

It was approved in 1925 by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior and goes back to a court seal from 1753.

In the 19-20. Century was Jockgrim location of the Falzziegelwerke Carl Ludowici, the European market leader in this field, whose products are seen in half of the world today. The Brickworks Museum, the walk- ring furnace under the municipal administration, various other buildings and numerous roofs reminiscent of that era.

The embossed by historic half-timbered houses " Hinnerstädel " impresses with its idyllic charm and has already given many artists a permanent home. This district ( Ludwig Street ) is the oldest surviving part Jockgrims. Remnants of the old city walls and the tithe house can be visited here. In this district every two years, will also be held the so-called " Hinnerstädelfeschd ", most recently in fall 2012.

Another attraction is the restored copy of a house ball, invented by Johann Wilhelm Ludowici. It stands near the community center and includes everything required for a two-person household.

Recreation area John Meadows

Originally created by the mining operations of the gravel works, the quarry John Wiese currently serves as a lake, nature reserve and fishing area. This is possible due to the large body of water, which is, however, only very limited use as a swimming area. The measurements of the quality of the pool water below the 'excellent' for the quality level required EU limits by a multiple.

The lake John Meadows is open during the months of May to September Monday to Sunday from 9:00 bis 21:00 clock and temporarily from the German Life Saving Society ( DLRG ) by the local chapter of Wörth am Rhein monitored. There are sanitary facilities and a snack bar / kiosk that serves drinks and light meals. An admission fee is charged for the care and maintenance of the plant.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Jockgrim has a break point on the railway line Schiffer City Wörth. Since December 2010, runs between Germersheim and Wörth am Rhein, the Stadtbahn Karlsruhe. For this purpose, the line was electrified.

Oil pipeline

Through the territory of the municipality of the pipeline of the Société du Pipeline Sud- Europeen ( SPSE) from southern France Fos -sur -Mer to the nearby oil refinery Upper Rhine runs.
