Scheibenhardt

Scheibenhardt is a municipality in the district of Germersheim, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hagenbach.

Geography

The place is located in the south-east of Rhineland -Palatinate, directly on the border with France. The village lies on the river Lauter, which forms the state border here. South of the Lauter, in France, is the place Scheibenhard.

History

Disc Hardt and Scheibenhard originally formed a community, to 1815 in the Second Peace of Paris the volume was set as the boundary between Germany and France. As in 1871, the Alsace came to the German Empire, the two communities remained isolated.

On June 10, 1979, a part of the territory of the municipality Wörth am Rhein was umgemeindet with 60 inhabitants after disc Hardt.

Religion

2012 were 63.5 percent of the population Catholic and 17.3 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

The blazon of the arms is: " divided by blue and silver, above a floating angetatztes silver cross, below a round green disc ".

It was established in 1964 approved by the Mainz Ministry of Interior and is based on a seal from 1737, which showed the cross of the Bishopric of Speyer.
