John " Jogi" Bitter ( born September 2, 1982 in Oldenburg ) is a German handball goalkeeper.

Career

Johannes Bitter began in 1989 with the handball matches at the HSG Neuchâtel / Bockhorn. He was initially fielder and went to the goalkeeper position until two years later. After bitter for SG VTB / Altjührden (now HSG Varel ) played between 1999 and 2002 in the 2nd Bundesliga Nord, he transferred to William HV, with the promotion to the Bundesliga. After just one season he moved to SC Magdeburg. Since the summer of 2007, he plays for HSV Hamburg.

His international debut for the DHB was bitter on 4 January 2002 in Balingen against Switzerland. In the final of World Cup 2007 was Johannes Bitter secure backing for the German team, as he is " cold" was due to the injury of the root goalkeeper Henning Fritz in the team and the final opponent Poland after a six- goal deficit denied the equalizer. With this performance, he saved the fused on a gate lead of the German team. He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for this triumph.

Johannes Bitter is married and father of three sons. His sister Thalke Bitter plays in the women's Bundesliga with VfL Oldenburg.

Social Commitment

Johannes Bitter sets since 2009 for the Foundation Mittagskinder. The foundation, established in November 2004, would like to give underprivileged children in a supervised community better opportunities for the way in life.
