Johannes Antonius Bernardus "Johnny" Metgod ( born February 27, 1958 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch football player and coach.

Career

AZ Alkmaar (1976-1982)

Metgod began his career at Door Wilskracht Sterk, a small club from Amsterdam. In 1975 he came to his first professional club HFC Haarlem. After only one year in Haarlem, he moved to AZ Alkmaar. He was one of the most successful team in the club's history and was able to AZ in 1978 in the final against Ajax Amsterdam celebrate the first national Cup victory the club's history. By the title Alkmaar took the European Cup Winners 'Cup in part 1978/79, but failed in the first round of the English Cup Winners' Cup Ipswich Town. According to the vice championship in the 1979/80 season Metgod reached a disastrous appearance in the UEFA Cup 1980/81 the final against Ipswich Town. Real Madrid (1982-1984)

International Metgod played 21 times for the Netherlands, scoring four goals .. He participated in the European Football Championship 1980 in Italy and some difference with the Oranje Oranje in the first round as a group of third parties.

Coaching career

Metgod began after end of his career as a player in 1994 with the coaching job in the youth department of Feyenoord Rotterdam. In 1995 he was an assistant coach at Excelsior Rotterdam. From 1996-1997 he was even head coach at Excelsior and 1997 interim coach at Feyenoord. In the same year he took over at short notice again the assistant coach posts in Excelsior and was at the end of the year assistant coach at Feyenoord. This post had Metgod position until 2004. In his time the profit fall he Dutch Championship in 1999 and the Dutch Super Cup in the same year, also could Feyenoord win the 2002 UEFA Cup. In 2004, he took over for a year again the chief coach of Excelsior, before he sat again from 2005-2007 as an assistant coach at Feyenoord on the bench. In May 2009, manager Nigel Clough took him in the same capacity to Derby County.
