Together with Wolfgang Dauner, Volker Kriegel, Albert Mangelsdorff, Eberhard Weber, Ian Carr, Charlie Mariano and Ack van Rooyen the two founded 1976, the United Jazz and Rock Ensemble.

Since 1994 Hiseman was again successful with Colosseum go. In addition, he also worked as a producer and sound engineer, for example, the fusion band Nucleus, pianist Keith Tippett and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

As a drummer is Hiseman representative of a legato sounds, which he characterizes as follows: " It is my personal way of playing that I combine jazz and rock rhythms with each other. I never play on the beat, but it's always a flowing, floating movement in my drums. "

Instruments

Hiseman is one of those drummers who play with a double drums - made popular - the use of two bass drums, two rack toms and two floor toms. At the time of the first formation of the Colosseum, he played drums in the configuration with two bass drums, two hanging toms, two floor toms and snare. He also used a double drums of the brand Hayman, which was provided to him, at his request because of a studio recording, by Ivor Arbiter, the owner of Drum City.

Today he played drums Pearl of the company, where he decided to take a short -to-play set. Two bass drums he plays only in live performance, otherwise it uses a double pedal. Instead of the second floor toms he positioned a third hanging tom, which now fills the gap between hanging toms and floor toms.
