Juan Francisco Lombardo ( born June 11, 1925 in Mendoza, Argentina, † 24, 2012 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) was an Argentine football player. With the national team of his native country, he took part of the Football World Cup 1958.

Career

Club career

Francisco Lombardo began his footballing career in 1947 at CA Newell 's Old Boys in Rosario, the third largest city of Argentina. After five years at the club The defender moved in 1952 to Buenos Aires at the Boca Juniors. In the club from the working-class neighborhood of La Boca he played, among other things, along with other Argentine football greats of that time like Julio Musimessi, who was also changed from Newell 's Old Boys, Boca one year before him, Eliseo Antonio Mouriño or Rattín. His first and only Argentine championship with Boca Juniors won Francisco Lombardo in the 1954 season, as you ahead of CA Independiente Avellaneda from the top spot in the Primera División finished with four points. National

Francisco Lombardo was used 1952-1959 37 times in the Argentine national football team, scoring one he did not succeed. From coach Guillermo Stábile he was appointed to the South American squad for the FIFA World Cup 1958 in Sweden. In the tournament, which ended with a disappointing exit in the first round as a group Last in a group with Germany, Northern Ireland and Czechoslovakia for Argentina, he came into all the games his team to use, but could not prevent early exit.
