Judgement is the fifth studio album by the British band Anathema. It was published by Music for Nations on 21 June 1999.

Formation and style

After main songwriter Duncan Patterson left the band, guitarist Danny Cavanagh composing was taken, but the other band members contributed for Judgement pieces, such as drummer John Douglas Do not Look to Far. After the album left Martin Powell, who had taken over since the tour to alternative 4 the live keyboards, the band and was replaced by Les Smith of Cradle of Filth. Judgement is the mother died in 1998 of the Cavanagh brothers, Helen Cavanagh, dedicated. In this context is also piece One Last Goodbye, which will be performed live as a duet with a female singer. On the album female vocals in two pieces included in Parisienne Moonlight and Do not Look to Far. He was acquired by Lee Douglas.

Reception

The album reached number 69 in the German charts. Jason Hundey of the website Allmusic awarded four out of five stars. He wrote that the album was "a truly dazzling masterpiece " that pierce the senses with its intensity. Wolf -Rüdiger Mühlmann designated Judgement in the magazine Rock Hard as " a gripping, emotional roller coaster ride that lyrical work- hard blows of fate which had to accept the musicians ... ". The album was a " statement " that " pop appeal and accessibility need not be pushy and slippery. " He forgave 9.5 out of ten.
