Juris Štāls

Juris Štāls ( born April 8, 1982 in Riga, Latvian SSR) is a Latvian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Kompanion Kiev from the Professional Hockey League since July 2012.

Career

Juris Štāls began his playing career as a youth player at Lukko Rauma, before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 by the New York Rangers in the ninth round at 269th place. The Rangers brought him to North America and he played for the Sarnia Sting in the Ontario Hockey League. At the beginning of the season 2002/ 03 he went for Vaasan Sport in Mestis on the ice, but later moved back to the OHL Owen Sound Attack and also made ​​his debut in the American Hockey League. In the 2003 /04 season he was permanently assigned to the AHL squad of the Hartford Wolf Pack, the farm team of the Rangers, to. He spent the following two years at the Charlotte Checkers in the ECHL, which in turn farm team of the Wolf Pack. Internationally

Juris Štāls has played in each of the Latvian Junior Championship for U18 and U20 selection. In addition to the appointment to the squad for the qualification for the Olympic Winter Games 2006, he was employed at the World Championships in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
