Justin Mapletoft
Justin Mapletoft ( born January 11, 1981 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the HC Sierre in the National League B since November 2011.
Career
Mapletoft began his career in 1996 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League with the Red Deer Rebels. After being there able to continually increase and already in its third year, is the team 's best scorers internally, the NHL scouts were aware of the left-handed shooters. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1999, he was selected by the New York Islanders in the fifth round at a total of 130 positions. The trained striker then stayed two years in the WHL and was able to increase his points haul again. His last year at the Deer Rebels, was also his best, so he could achieve 120 points scorer in 70 games and have a plus / minus stats by 45.
In summer 2001, Mapletoft moved to the American Hockey League to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the farm team of the New York Islanders. The then 20 -year-old also left with the Sound Tigers a good impression and received during the 2002 /03 first opportunity to prove himself in the NHL. In the end, he completed eleven NHL games in which he scored four points scorer. After two more years in which he has been used mainly in the NHL to Mapletoft opted for a move to Europe and signed a contract with Jokerit Helsinki SM- liiga of Finland. After only 18 games for the Finnish showpiece club, he moved in the Swedish Elitserien for Södertälje SK, where he finished the current season.
For 2006/ 07 the leaders of the Sinupret Ice Tigers were attentive to him and convinced him of any involvement in Nuremberg. After the season Mapeltoft finally accepted an offer from the Ottawa Senators. In Ottawa, however, it did not matter and was exclusively on their farm team, the Binghamton Senators used.
After he then barely made his chances for a possible breakthrough in the NHL, he joined in the summer of 2008, the EC Villach sports club from the Austrian Bundesliga on.
Between September 2009 and March 2011, he was in the squad of the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. From July 2011 to November 2011 Mapletoft played for the SERC Wild Wings in the 2nd Hockey League. On 16 November 2011 he was dropped from the squad after he had scored six assists in 14 games. A day later joined the Canadians in the National League B to HC Sierre.
