Katie Mactier

Katie Mactier ( born March 23, 1975 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian racing driver who was active in road and rail.

Only after 24 years, Katie Mactier, who was active as a triathlete decided exclusively for cycling. Previously, she had completed her marketing degree at Welsley College in Melbourne.

2001 Katie Mactier Australian champion was in the road race. 2003 and 2004 she was vice-world champion in the individual pursuit on the track, 2005 world champion in this discipline. Added to Kamen numerous Australian Champions on rail and road, railway victories in World Cup and other podium places at track world championships. In 2006 she won the individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games.

Twice Katie Mactier took in the Olympic Games in part, in 2004 in Sydney, where she won a silver medal in the individual pursuit, and in Beijing in 2008, where she was, however, overtaken by the later gold medalist Rebecca Romero in the first round of the competition. Then she finished her cycling career.

2003 Katie Mactier was elected to the Australian racing cyclist of the year 2005 on track cyclist of the year. She is married to the New Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson and lives in Girona; 2009 the couple was born a daughter.
