Kauffenheim

Kauffenheim is a commune with 217 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region 36 km northeast of Strasbourg.

History

The village as " Chochinheim " in the year 884 was first documented from this name today Kauffenheim developed over Cochenheim, Chochenheim, Kochheim, Koech home. From 1359 to 1680 the village was owned by the resident at Castle Fleckenstein of Fleckenstein noble family. In 1720 it fell into the possession of the Princess of Rohan - Soubise and remained there until the French Revolution.
