History

Archaeological finds that the Civitas Venta Icenorum was settled in Norfolk before 450 AD as one of the first areas of Britain Anglo-Saxons. Perhaps you were Norfolk ( " North People " ), and Suffolk ( "South- folk " ) initially independent kingdoms. The royal dynasty seems to have originated in Suffolk, where the king was sitting Rendlesham and burial places of high-ranking individuals were found in Sutton Hoo and Snape. The early history of East Anglia is hardly documented. The first kings Wehha, who died about 571, and his son Wuffa (around 571-578 ), the founder of the dynasty of Wuffinger whose pedigree was traced back to Wodan to apply. The first "historical" King was Raedwald (around 593 to 625 ), which was recognized as Bretwalda. This supremacy lost East Anglia after Raedwalds death of Northumbria.

Despite the Danish colonization Danelag hardly left traces in the form of place names. The church structures, however, broke up: the dioceses Elmham and Dunwich remained vacant and the monasteries were abandoned. In the year 917 East Anglia was recaptured by the Anglo-Saxons under Edward the Elder and went as Earldom (county) to the Kingdom of England.
