History

Mentioned in documents for the first time in the Notitia Kirchweidach Arnonis as "ad Uuidaha " to 788 it always belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria, and indeed to rule the forest. Kirchweidach was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. In 1896, the church branch Kirchweidach from the mother parish Feichtenschlager been disconnected at the Alz and collected for independent parish. On 1 January 1978, the annexation of districts conducting wire, Mountain, Biburg, Brandhub, Feller, Grub, Hütting, Kielhub, Mitterwinkl, Neukirchen, Niederhofen Oberwinkl, Reisachberg, Schachen, Wagenhofen and meadows was from the dissolved local shepherd. Since May 1, 1978 Kirchweidach is the seat of the administrative community Kirchweidach consisting of the independent communities Kirchweidach, Feichten an der Alz, Halsbach and Tyrlaching.

Worth seeing in Kirchweidach is the rose-colored Baroque parish church of St. Vitus. Second patron saint of the church and the community is Leonhard, in whose honor the beginning of November each year the well-known " Leonhardiritt " organized, come to the riders from a wide area to let bless their horses.
