Koonga Parish

Koonga ( Koonga vald, German: Kokenkau ) is an Estonian rural municipality in the district of Pärnu. Covering an area of 438 km ² live 1260 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2010).

Koonga is about 40 km from Pärnu. Center is the site Koonga. In addition, part of the rural community of the villages Emmu, Hõbeda, Irta, Iska, Joonuse, Jänistvere, Järve, calli, Karinõmme, Karuba, Kibura, Kiisamaa, Kuhu, Kurese, Kõima, Lope, Maikse, Mihkli, Naissoo, Nedrema, Nätsi, Oidrema, Paimvere, Palatu Parasmaa, Peantse, Piisu, Pikavere, Rabavere, Salevere, Sookatse Tamme, Tarva, Tõitse Ura, Urita, Vastaba, Veltsa, Võitra, Võrungi and OEPA.

Koonga heavily developed for hiking and cycling tours. Worth seeing are the archaeological remains of an Estonian fortress from the 10th to the 12th century, the so-called Soontagana maalinn, and the manor of Oidremaa, which was built in the 19th century by the German Baltic family of lilies Feldt.
