Kościelisko
Kościelisko is a tourist resort and capital of the same rural community in the Malopolska province in the southern part of Poland, in the Subcarpathian.
Geography
The place is located 5 kilometers west of the center of the county town of Zakopane and 85 km south of Krakow at the foot of the Western Carpathians in the Podhale region, near the border with Slovakia. Kościelisko is a scattered settlement, which was created by the merging of 21 shepherds' settlements.
Tourism
Kościelisko is very close to Zakopane and thus in the main winter sports region of Poland. So tourism is the main industry of the community. While the local Tatra slopes have rather light ski slopes, the biathlon track in Kościelisko of international importance. Here the Biathlon Junior World Championships was held in 2003. In addition, extending south of the village the landscape worth seeing mountain valleys Kościeliska and a little further south Dolina Chochołowska, which is the largest Tatratal with about 10 kilometers in length.

The rural commune ( gmina wiejska ) Kościelisko divided into three districts ( sołectwo ):
- Dzianisz
- Kościelisko
- Witów
The gmina has a partnership with the Slovak city Tvrdošín and is a member of the Partnership Project Twin Town, composed of the municipalities Durbuy (Belgium ), Valga (Estonia), Osthammar (Sweden), Kobylnica ( Poland) and Uusikaupunki and Orimattila (Finland).
