The circle Strelno on the northeast edge of the Prussian province of Posen existed from 1886 until 1919.

Prehistory

1772-1807

The area around the western Polish city Strzelno was temporarily after the first partition of Poland from 1772 to 1807 for Netzedistrict in the Prussian province of West Prussia. After the peace of Tilsit, the area was returned to Poland in 1807.

1815-1886

The area fell again after the Congress of Vienna on 15 May 1815, the Kingdom of Prussia. Until 1 July 1886, belonged to the circle Inowrazlaw in the province of Posen.

Administrative history

On July 1, 1886 Strelno own circle was formed from the southern part of the circle Inowrazlaw.

For new circle Strelno included:

  • Municipality Strelno and police districts Strelno I and II Strelno,
  • Municipality Kruschwitz and police district Kruschwitz.

Seat of the district administration has been the county seat Strelno.

On December 27, began in 1918 in the Posen province of Wielkopolska Uprising of the Polish majority population against German rule, and already on 5 January 1919, the county seat Strelno was under Polish control.

On February 16, 1919 armistice ended the Polish- German battles, and on 28 June 1919, the German government stepped with the signing of the Versailles Treaty, the circle Strelno officially to the newly founded Poland from.

From the circle Strelno the Polish powiat Strzelno, which was disbanded in 1932 and divided between the neighboring districts Mogilno and Inowrocław was.

The circle Strelno divided into two municipalities, the remaining villages were grouped into police districts.

The circle Strelno consisted on 1 January 1908:

  • 2 municipalities ( Strelno and Kruschwitz )
  • 65 rural communities and
  • 63 agricultural estates.

Size

The circle Strelno had an area of 615 km ².

Population

The circle Strelno had in 1890 31.127 inhabitants. Of these, about 80% of Poles and 20 % German. The majority of the German population after 1919 left the area.
