Křenek (Prague-East District)

Krenek ( German Krenek, also Kschenek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers north of Brandys nad Labem and belongs to Okres Praha- východ.

Geography

Krenek is located on the right side of the Elbe on a dropped meander. North of the village is Ovčáry the quarry Krenek. In the northeast of the railroad runs Lysa nad Labem by Melnik, and the Strait of Stara Boleslav after Melnik. The railway station " Dřísy " is an abundant kilometers to the north.

Neighboring towns are Dřísy in the north, Lhota in the northeast, Borek in the southeast, and Záryby MARTINOV in the south, Kostelec nad Labem and Rudec in the west and Ovčáry in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Crzemk dates from the year 1337, as Janda of Hlavno and Lysa left the village together with Kostelní Hlavno the Crusaders of St. Mary on the Lesser Town. The village was established as a group of farms on an island in the Elbmäandern. Since the beginning of the 16th century belonged to the rule Krenek Brandys. Until 1651 Krenek was to Kostelec nad Labem gepfarrt, then it belonged to the parish of Stara Boleslav. In the land register of 1651 13 taxable property listed for Krenek. Residents of the village lived by agriculture, especially onions, garlic, cucumbers and other vegetables were grown. Later potatoes were added.

After the abolition of patrimonial Krenek was formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Karlin and from 1906 in the district of Brandys nad Labem. 1873 was created after the construction of the Austrian Northwestern Railway in the fields north of the village the station Dřísy. Due to the vegetable market incurred at the train station of agricultural products were sold in the North Bohemian industrial areas. 1927, the village was electrified. In the 1930s there was a straightening of the river Elbe with hydropower plants and weirs in Kostelec nad Labem Brandys. The old meander were dropped.

As of January 1, 1961 Krenek belonged to Okres Melnik and since 2007 okres Praha- východ.

  • Stretch Krenek, north of the village at Ovčáry. Instead of the lake was formerly the hill " Na Homolce " which was completely eroded 1958-1963 by gravel mining. The anstandenen after flooding of the lake Kiesgrune now serves recreational purposes and agricultural irrigation
