Geography

Küps is located in the Franconian Forest nature park at the Unterrodach. Through the community Küps flows the hamlet Rödern cancer creek that empties into the Unterrodach.

History

Küps was first written mention on 8 July 1151st

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Tüschnitz was incorporated. On January 1, 1972, added grove. Au followed on 1 January 1976, Burkersdorf on 1 January 1977. The series of incorporations was completed on 1 May 1978 of the incorporation of the communities Johannistal, Oberlangenstadt, Schmölz and Theisenort.

Policy

Mayor

Mayor since 1999, Herbert Schneider (independent). In the mayoral election on 27 February 2011, none of the three candidates obtained an absolute majority in the first ballot. Herbert Schneider received 41.45 %, Bernd Rebhan (CSU ) 36.90 % and Kerstin Schmidt- Müller ( SPD) 21.65 %. Therefore, it came on 13 March to a runoff between Herbert Schneider and Bernd Rebhan (CSU ), with 52.99 % of votes Schneider decided for themselves.

About two-thirds of the population are Protestant, about one third Catholic.
