Küttigkofen

Küttigkofen was until December 31, 2013, municipality in the district Bucheggberg the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 merged with the former municipalities Küttigkofen Aetigkofen, Aetingen, beavers, Brügglen, Gossliwil, Hessigkofen, Kyburg, mill village and Tscheppach the new community Buchegg.

Geography

Küttigkofen is located on 481 m above sea level. M., 6.5 km south-southwest of Canton main town of Solothurn (air line). The hamlet extends on both sides of the mill brook in a wide valley in the eastern marginal zone of Bucheggberg, in the Solothurn Plateau.

The area of ​​2.2 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the Molassehöhen of Bucheggberg. The area is crossed from west to east from the mill stream which exits west of the village from the narrow Mühletal in an up to 500 m wide valley. Population

With 261 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Küttigkofen one of the small communities of the Canton of Solothurn. Of the residents 98.8 % are German, 0.4 % French-speaking and 0.4 % speak English (as of 2000). The population of Küttigkofen amounted in 1850 to 196 residents in 1900 to 184 inhabitants. After that, the population fluctuated in the range of 170-240 inhabitants. Only since 1990 (211 inhabitants) increased population growth was recorded.

Economy

Küttigkofen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. The water power of the mill Bach was formerly used for the operation of a mill and a sawmill. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including in an establishment of horticulture. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Solothurn and Bern.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from Biberist and Bätterkinden. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1316 under the name Obrenchüttenkofen. Later, the names Kuttenkon ( 1321 ) published, Kutenkoven ( 1327 ), Chütikon ( 1344) and Küttikon ( 1370 ). The name goes back to the Alemannic personal names cuto. The suffix - igkofen he means so much as in the courts of the people of the cuto, where so-called relocated farms are meant.

Since the Middle Ages Küttigkofen was under the rule Buchegg, which was part of the County of Burgundy country, acquired in 1391 from Solothurn and was converted to the Bailiwick Bucheggberg. Until 1798, the high court was the Bernese district court Zollikofen while Solothurn with the Aetingen of court exercised the lower courts. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) was one Küttigkofen during the Helvetic Republic to the district Biberist and from 1803 to the District Bucheggberg.

Attractions

The former mill from 1794 was restored in 1977. In the center some characteristic farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries have been preserved. Küttigkofen does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish Aetingen mill village.
