Geography
Geographical Location
The municipality is located on the upper Lahn Lahn valley about 83 kilometers north of Frankfurt and about seven kilometers northwest of Marburg.
West of the church stands on the 498 meter high Rimberg.
Natural space
The Lahn downriver viewed from west to east include Brungershausen, Kernbach and Caldern natural area to the Upper Lahn Valley, while Sterzhausen, Goßfelden, Sarnau and Göttingen are the Wetschaft sink. History
Ahead of municipal reform in Hesse joined on 31 December 1971, the previously independent municipalities Caldern ( with the former municipalities Caldern and Kernbach ) and Sterzhausen to a community with the name Lahn together. On 1 July 1974, the municipality was Lahn Valley ( with the former municipalities Goßfelden and Sarnau ) together with the municipalities Brungershausen, Göttingen and Lahn rock to a community with the name of the Lahn valley. The individual districts each have independent historical roots.

Coat of arms

Traffic
Through the municipality runs in east-west direction of the federal highway 62 coming from Biedenkopf to Coelbe and continue towards Alsfeld. In the district of Göttingen coming from the north federal highway 252 ends of Diemelstadt or Korbach.
The Upper Lahn Valley Railway connects Marburg Biedenkopf and Bad Laasphe with Erndtebrück. It is operated by the Kurhessenbahn. There are breakpoints in Caldern, Sterzhausen and Goßfelden.
