Breidenbach is a municipality in the western part of the Marburg -Biedenkopf. The community is named in the center of the community after the largest district.

Geography

Neighboring communities

Breidenbach is bordered to the north on the town Biedenkopf, in the east on the community Dautphetal, in the south on the community Steffensberg (all three in Marburg- Biedenkopf ), and to the west by the municipalities of Eschenburg and Dietzhölztal (both in the Lahn -Dill -Kreis), as well as to the town of Bad Laasphe ( in the district of Siegen -Wittgenstein in North Rhine -Westphalia).

Community structure

The municipality is divided into the districts Achenbach, Breidenbach, Kleingladenbach, Niederdieten, Oberdieten, Wiesbach and Wolzhausen.

History

The main town was first mentioned in the year 913, making it one of the oldest towns in the region. Since 1146 established as the seat of the Lords of Breidenbach to Breidenstein that in the late 13th century, erected the castle Outbound Breidenbach here.

Incorporations

On 1 February 1971, the neighboring community Kleingladenbach was incorporated. On July 1, 1974 Achenbach, Niederdieten, Oberdieten, Wiesbach and Wolzhausen were added.

Municipal council

The municipal election held 27 March 2011 yielded the following results:

Mayor

Werner Reitz (SPD ) was elected on 22 October 2000, 59.7 % of the vote and 15 October 2006 again for mayor. On October 28, 2012, elected with 61% of votes for mayor Christoph Felkl (SPD). Mayor is currently Armin Trust.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality Breidenbach was in the course of municipal reform in 1974 the coat of arms of the greater community.

Blazon: Argent, a broad, oblique left running, blue wave bar (Bach ) coated with a double round golden wolf iron, borrowed the coat of arms of the lords of Breidenbach to Breidenstein.

Sports

Sports facilities

Breidenbach has many sports facilities, of which three sports fields in the nuclear community. These are generally free to access and free of charge. The core community offers two gymnasiums, a small sports hall and the Perftalhalle and in all districts at least make a pipe or football field. In the district Niederdieten is an outdoor pool and Kleingladenbach is also found even a ski lift with ski lift, which is why the community for tourists is attractive.

Shopping

The core community Breidenbach is a well-developed, industry richer place. A variety of shopping and leisure activities make Breidenbach to the center of the community and the surrounding villages.

Industry

Breidenbach has an industrial area ( Industrial Area West), in the medium-sized companies such as Weber Maschinenbau or Christmann & Pfeifer are located. With the Buderus Guss GmbH a brake disc manufacture site of the former Grand Group Buderus has their headquarters there in the district Oberdieten is being built the new business park "On the Eberbach ". The core community Breidenbach employs over 2,600 workers.
