Laroque-de-Fa

Laroque -de- Fa is a commune in the Aude department of the Languedoc -Roussillon region. The Occitan name of the place is Larroca de fan On 1 January 2011 the town had 148 inhabitants are called, the Laroquois or Laroquoises.

Location

Laroque is in the middle of the Hautes- Corbières. The village is located approximately in the middle of an imaginary triangle between Carcassonne (70 km to the north- west), Narbonne (63 km to the north- east) and Perpignan (66 km to the south). Laroque -de- Fa is located on the municipal road (the former National Road ) D 613, which connects Narbonne with Ax- les -Thermes.

History

A prehistoric settlement of the area is demonstrated by the megalithic necropolis of La Clappe (8 Dolmen ) and the smaller Dolmen Coume Jonquières. The village was built in the middle ages, of which remains of buildings testify to the rocks of La Cigale. In the 13th century it belonged to the lords of the Château de peyrepertuse.
