Montauriol (Aude)

Montauriol is a commune with 78 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Aude department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs to the district of Carcassonne and the canton of Salles- sur -l'Hers.

Montauriol is quite a widespread place name in Spanish Catalonia and the French Languedoc. The place name is derived from the Latin " mons aureolus ", meaning very profane " golden mountain".

Geography
