Layes Abdullayeva

Laye Abdullayeva (birth name: Abelav Laye Tsige; born 29 May 1991) is an Azerbaijani medium-range, long-range and obstacle runner of Ethiopian origin.

Since February 2009, starting for their new home, they won in the same year at the Junior European Championships Silver 1500 meters and 3000 meter steeplechase and arrived at the Delhi Half Marathon on the 13th Place.

In 2010 she was national champion in the 1500 meters in the hall, about 800 meters outdoors. In April, she won the Tarsus Half Marathon in 1:13:06 h over 3000 meters it was seventh at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and won bronze at the World Junior Championships in Moncton. A week after the World Junior Championships, she started about 3000 meter steeplechase at the European Championships in Barcelona. Although their jumping technique in comparison to their competitors was miserable, she finished sixth and improved her national record by more than 20 seconds.

In 2011 she was at the European Indoor Championships first fourth over 3000 meters, got after the lock by Olesja Syrewa but subsequently awarded the bronze medal. In the U23 European Championships she won both 5000 and 10,000 meters gold. In 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London.
