Leigri is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Kõrgessaare ( Kõrgessaare vald ). It is the second largest Estonian island of Hiiumaa ( German Dagö ).
Description and History
Leigri has a population (as of 31 December 2011). The town is located 17 kilometers southwest of the island's capital Kärdla.
Is well recognized for its historic tavern Murru ( Murru Kõrts ). There, organized in 1867 under the open sky Gustav Feliks trough ( 1831-1895 ), the pastor of Reigi, the first song festival the island of Hiiumaa. At the event since 1992 a memorial stone.
Around the village lies the 190 -acre nature reserve Leigri ( Leigri looduskaitseala ). It was launched in 1998. The bog is primarily a hotbed of black stork.
