Malvaste is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Kõrgessaare ( Kõrgessaare vald ). It is the second largest Estonian island of Hiiumaa ( German Dagö ).

Description

Malvaste ( German Malweste ) today only 3 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011).

The place is located on the northernmost peninsula of Hiiumaa, Tahkuna ( Tahkuna pool saar ). He more than twelve kilometers west of the island's capital Kärdla ( Kertel ). Malvaste is located one kilometer from the Baltic Sea and its sandy beaches.

Orthodox chapel

Worth seeing is the Built in 1906, Orthodox wooden chapel with its bell tower. It is dedicated to the prophet Elijah. The nave church is thatched. In the immediate vicinity is the historic Woodland Cemetery of Malvaste.

Farm Museum Mihkli

In the field of Malvaste the Farm Museum Mihkli is ( Mihkli talumuuseum ). It was opened in 1998. The homestead with a total of eight building dates from the mid-19th century. It is now a branch of the Museum of Hiiumaa.

In Mihkli the traditional way of life and work and farm architecture northern Estonia are presented. On display are among other residential buildings, warehouses, barns, cellars and a smoke sauna in the year 1915.
