Lemmy is an American documentary film about the British musician Lemmy Kilmister, the band leader and singer of the band Motörhead.

Content

Designed as a rockumentary film Lemmy was produced by Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski. This is a footage from 16mm film and high definition video footage that was recorded over three years. The material originates from international recordings from the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Russia and Denmark and includes interviews with friends, colleagues and admirers, including Dave Grohl, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N 'Roses and Velvet Revolver, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, David Ellefson of Megadeth, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Alice Cooper, Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order, Dee Snider, Nikki Sixx, Mick Jones of The Clash, Kat Von D, Henry Rollins, Lars Frederiksen of Rancid, Jim Heath of Reverend Horton Heat, Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats, Mike Inez, Joan Jett, Dave Navarro of Jane 's Addiction, Ice-T, skateboarder Geoff Rowley, the wrestler Triple H, Fast Eddie Clarke, Jarvis Cocker, Marky Ramone, former Hawkwind bandmates Dave Brock and Stacia, and Steve Vai. Also Kilmisters son Paul is interviewed in this film about his father.

Publication

The premiere of Lemmy took place in March 2010 at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. He was then presented at various film festivals in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Greece, Chile, Brazil, Spain, France, and elsewhere. Entertainment One released the DVD on January 21, 2011 in Germany and on January 24 in the UK. At the Wacken Open Air 2011, the film was listed as the night program in the movie Field.

The German publication has been shortened due to the pointing of Nazi memorabilia from the collection of Lemmy Kilmister at 16min (German version: 100min - UK version: 116min ) so that they could be sold in Germany at all.
