Lesozavodsk

Lessosawodsk (Russian Лесозаводск ) is a city in Primorsky Krai (Russia) with 37,034 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 300 km north of the regional capital Vladivostok situated on the river Ussuri, a right tributary of the Amur River, just over 10 kilometers from the Chinese border in the Ussuriniederung.

The city is Lessosawodsk the region administratively subordinated directly and also the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons ( available since 1992 and Rajon city under joint management ).

Lessosawodsk has a station on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( station name Ruschino, 8934 route km from Moscow). The highway M60 " Ussuri " Khabarovsk - Vladivostok leads about 10 kilometers east over the city.

History

1924 started near a formerly the merchant Borodin sawmill belonging to the construction of a new work; the associated settlement was called Dalles (Russian Дальлес of Dalni for remote in relation to the Russian Far East, les for forest ). 1932 came the merger of the settlement Nowostroika (Russian for new construction) for urban-type settlement Lessosawodsk (Russian zavod for work ). 1938, the city charter was granted.

In Lessosawodsk there is a local history museum.

25 kilometers south of Lessosawodsk is the Schmakowka ( Gornyje Kljutschi ), one of the most important resorts of the Far East of Russia.

Economy

The main industry is the woodworking industry, and there are companies in the light and food industries.
