Spassk-Dalny

Spassk- Dalni (Russian Спасск - Дальний ) is a city in Primorsky Krai (Russia) with 44,173 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the Chankaniederung (Russian Prichankaiskaja nismennost ) about 200 km north of the regional capital Vladivostok. 20 km northwest of the city is Khanka, in which the current flowing through the place Kuleschowka and Spassowka lead.

The city Spassk- Dalni is the region administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the Rajons Spassk.

Spassk- Dalni has a station on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( Route 9048 km from Moscow). In addition, the city lies on the highway M60 " Ussuri " Khabarovsk - Vladivostok.

History

The village was founded around 1885 as a re-settlers village Spasskoye (of Russian spas for Redeemer ). With the establishment of a nearby station ( Jewgenjewka ) at the 1897 Ussuri opened in 1906, the importance of the site grew. 1917 he was awarded city rights under the name Spassk.

In the Russian Civil War Spassk and surroundings were hard -fought, what the famous war song reminds partisans of Amur ( ... The Hurra partisan, | When the storm on Spassk succeeded ... ).

1926 was the incorporation of Jewgenjewka and 1929 renaming of the place in Spassk- Dalni (Russian Dalni for remote, meaning the situation in the Far East of Russia, to distinguish it from Spassk in the Penza Oblast and Spassk- Rjasanski in the Ryazan Oblast ).

Culture and sights

In the city, a number of buildings from the late 19th / early 20th century have been preserved, the Tereschtschenski district, the railway station, a chapel of 1907, the buildings of the trading company Art and Albers 1908 and the Teachers' College in 1915.

Spassk- Dalni has a local history museum with a focus on the nature of the Primorski.

Economy

The most important enterprises of the city are the cement plants of the company Spasskzement with an annual capacity of 3.5 million tons. The first was built in 1907, and further in 1934 and 1976. Importance of cement industry is also reflected in the coat of arms.

Other industries are machine building, light and food industries.

The area around Spassk- Dalni is one of the most important agricultural areas of the region.
