Lia Wälti

Lia Joelle Wälti (born 19 April 1993 Langnau im Emmental ) is a Swiss football player who is under contract with German Bundesliga side Turbine Potsdam since the 2013/14 season.

Career

Clubs

Wälti began her career at the age of eight years at FC Langnau, where she played in a boys' team, which was coached by her father. In 2007 she was accepted into the training center Huttwil and changed half a year later the team Bern West. During this time she played in the National League B for FC Köniz. In 2009, she joined the Young Boys Bern, where she initially played a year in the male U-16 team before they moved to the first women's team a year later. With YB she won the Swiss championship in 2011 and rose to the Mannschaftskapitänin.

In the summer of 2013 Wälti moved to Bundesliga side 1 FFC Turbine Potsdam, where she received a two-year contract.

National

With the Swiss U-19 national team, she participated in the 2009 European Championship and reached the semi-finals with their team. A year later she took part with the U -20 team at the World Cup. There, the Swiss people already eliminated from the first round. 2011 it reached with Switzerland again the semi-finals at the U-19 European Championship and was in the following year to the Swiss team which was eliminated in the U -20 World Cup in Japan in the first round.

21 August 2011 Wälti debuted in the senior national team, in which they played in Falkirk 's 5-0 victory in the Test match against the selection of Scotland's 90 minutes.
